Model - G6
Appearance - Sports racer
Power plant - DKW 2-stroke
Further details - A well known German engine tuner with close links to Auto Union named Albrecht Mansell first saw the G4 at the 1961 Racing Car Show and liked what he saw. He intended to import it into Germany for fitment of a DKW engine, but although backers were soon found progress was slow and it wasn’t until May 1963 that the first car was imported with a G4 chassis and body significantly modified to accept a DKW two stroke engine. A highly modified unit was fitted to the car in Germany just in time for the 1000K Nurburgring race of that year where the car was very fast clocking 117mph though a time trap before a fuel blockage side lined it. One further car, a road version, was built before interest in two stroke engines in Germany started to subside, with DKW Auto Union becoming Audi a year later.
