Further Details - By 1967 a replacement for the G4 was a priority for Ginetta and the solution was something quite different. The new G15 was modern, well equipped, very sporting and economical. Importantly for Ginetta it was also quicker and easier to manufacture than the G4 meaning good profits with a competitive price. Built on a square tube chassis, now bolted to the body instead of bonding, the new car featured a rear mounted Sunbeam Imp Sport engine and transmission with Imp rear trailing arm rear suspension. At the front in the interests of the best handling Triumph based twin wishbone suspension was used. The driving experience was exceptional, with sharp handling, lively performance and economy running close to 50 mpg. Despite its diminutive size the G15 was roomy inside and capable of accommodating tall people in its low seating. The original prototype first shown at the 1967 London Motor Show was fitted with a rear radiator, but this was modified to a front radiator for production. Initially orders were slow but then quickly took off once full production was underway during the summer of 1968. A dozen or so series 1 cars were built before revisions were made ready for the 1968 Motor Show. Series 1 production did see minor changes as the cars were made and it is almost true to say that no Series 1 is quite the same as another.
