Further details - By 1966 Ginetta felt there was a need to breathe new life into the G4 which was still selling well but was showing its age compared to some sports cars from other manufacturers. As a result the standard series 2 square tube chassis G4 was upgraded with a much improved interior, styled dashboard, better sealing of the side windows, plus a completely new look with smoother bonnet line incorporating lay down headlamps. For the Coupe version a revised hardtop with square cornered windscreen taken from the new G12, was another change. First shown at the 1967 Racing Car Show it met with a mixed response, many preferring the original G4 style bonnet. Engine options remained as before but for 1968 the Ford 1600cc crossflow engine became an option producing what was perhaps the nicest road G4 of them all. Production finished in mid-1968 to make way for a completely new replacement model, very different to the now ubiquitous G4.
