Model - G22 (seen here at Mallory Park in 2008, at the then Ginetta Festival)
Appearance - Sports 2000
Power plant - Ford 2.0 ohc (Pinto)
Further details - The G22 itself was designed, in period, for the then very popular Sports 2000 category (then dominated by Tiga, Lola, March, Chevron, Royale, van Diemen and Reynard chassis, along with plenty of others less popular makes, most of which have now entirely vanished from motorsport), running, what were, in effect, lightly modified Formula Ford 2000 single-seater chassis with, enclosed bodywork.
As with most of their motorsport involvement, Ginetta’s Sports 2000 efforts relied heavily on a privateer/team doing much of the development work, without very much in the way of factory support, especially in comparison to the top manufacturers. It is not surprising then that the car was never properly developed, less than a handful hit the tracks, and even fewer competed in a full-blooded campaign.
Cost - £3,000.00 (Less engine and gerabox)
