G15S

Model - G15S

Appearance - 2-seater sports

Power plant - Rear-engined 998cc Imp Sport Rallye

Further Details - From the earliest days of G15 production a few purchasers had asked about the fitting of a 998cc Imp competition engine into the G15 chassis and indeed the third car made was fitted with such an engine by its new owner rather than fitting the 875cc engine supplied with his car.

By the end of 1968 the eleventh G15 made was the first supplied by the factory with a new Rallye 998cc engine sourced by Ginetta directly by the Chrysler competition department.  From then on between five and ten percent of all G15 cars ordered were delivered with a Rallye 998cc engine.  The price difference over the 875cc unit was significant adding £100 to the price of the car and increase of more than 10% on the purchase price.  Around 1970 the 998cc version became a model in its own right being designated the G15S as distinct from the G15.

Cost - £1545.00 (1973 factory built tax paid price)

Production numbers are included within the G15 totals.
